IONIC COLUMN
A column of the second order of Greek/Roman architecture. It has a CAPITAL with spiral VOLUTES on each side, a FLUTED SHAFT, and a BASE. Ionic columns tend to be more slender and more elaborate than DORIC COLUMNS, less elaborate than CORINTHIAN COLUMNS.
